§ 10.5-4. Historic preservation commission—Creation.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created a commission whose title shall be ``Cordele Historic Preservation Commission'' (hereinafter "commission").

    (b)

    The director of community development (DCD) for the city is hereby designated as a source of technical/administrative/professional assistance to the commission, and shall be responsible for the operations of the commission in keeping with the requirements of certification for participation in the certified local government program. The DCD may designate a member or members of the DCM's [DCD's] staff to assist in historic preservation activities, and the DCD, augmented by DCD staff, shall devote the amount of time necessary to carry out the spirit and intent of this chapter.

    (c)

    It is the intent of this chapter that its requirements hereunder for establishing the "Cordele Historic Preservation Ordinance" shall in nowise be more stringent or comprehensive than the requirements for the Georgia National Register Review Board.
