§ 12-4. Tampering with utility property.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to tap, connect with, disturb, damage or turn on or off any main, service connection or meter of any public utility in the city, whether such device is within the public ways, or on private premises, unless such person is acting by the consent of, or under the direction of the utility owning such property. However, it shall not be a violation of this section for plumbers licensed by the city and their employed personnel to turn on or off at the city meter the city water supply running to premises served by such meter where necessary in the performance of plumbing work upon such premises.
