§ 18-1. Designated fireplug for public use.

  • The fireplug immediately behind the city hall on the Sixth—Eighth Avenue connector is hereby designated as the only fireplug in the city from which the public is authorized to draw and use city water.

    (1)

    A backflow prevention device shall be installed on such fireplug which will impede the backflow of any residues into the city water system.

    (2)

    A water meter shall also be installed at the fireplug.

    (3)

    Any person desiring to fill tankers, trucks, or any other container from such fireplug shall make prior arrangements with the city and shall pay a fee as determined by the city commission from time to time and listed in the schedule of fees and charges maintained in the city clerk's office plus the regular user rate for water (as indicated by the meter) for each "fill up."

    (4)

    It shall be unlawful for any person, other than a city employee acting within the scope of his authority, to violate any provision of this section.

    (5)

    Any person violating any provision of this section shall, after conviction in the municipal court be punished within the limits set forth in section 1-13 of this Code.
