§ 19-58. Definitions.

  • As used in this article, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed to them:

    Driver means any person operating a vehicle for hire.

    Vehicle for hire means any vehicle, other than an emergency vehicle, of every size, used to transport passengers on the streets of the city, for which transportation the owner or operator is paid or expects to be paid by the passengers or in the passengers' behalf. Expressly excepted are vehicles used for hire in interstate commerce, such as but not limited to regularly scheduled busses, charter busses, et cetera.
